President Carter will be celebrating his 85th birthday at the Historic Rylander Theatre on September 27, 2009 from 3 p.m. until 5 p.m.!

The program includes Las Vegas pianist David Osborne, and the award winning St. Genevieve High School students chorale and dance team. Following the program there will be a cake cutting ceremony at the Rylander Park (directly across the street).
This is a free event, but a ticket is required for admission. All 600 tickets have been claimed, and the waiting list has reached the limit.
Carter, who has rarely used his full name, James Earl Carter Jr, was born October 1, 1924 in Plans, GA. Peanut farming, talks of politics, and devotion to the Baptist faith were mainstays of his upbringing. Upon graduation in 1946 from the Naval Academy in Annapolis, Maryland, Carter married
Rosalynn Smith. The Carters have three sons, John William (Jack), James Earl Carter III (Chip), Donnell Jeffrey (Jeff), and a daughter, Amy Lynn.
