Janet's Planet Online Astronaut Academy

WHAT: An interactive, online Astronaut Academy offering STEAM Space and Earth Science curriculum. Each day will include live instruction, a challenge or experiment to test, an item to make, and an opportunity to explore and learn with your fellow science and space-minded explorers in a secure online Zoom Room. Students will learn directly from Janet Ivey, president of Explore Mars and creator of Janet’s Planet along with experts in the field to expand your student’s understanding of the universe. Each day features a Mission, Science Lesson, Special Guest from the Science Community and Hands-On Activity.
WHEN: July 20--24, 2020
WHO: Students ages 7--14
WHERE: Astronaut Academy is an online 4-hour daily camp featuring live and digital interactive experiences with Janet Ivey, special guests from the scientific community, and members of her world-class education team.
Upon registration confirmation, parents will receive instructions on how to install the Zoom.us platform and will receive a secure Zoom link, Meeting ID, and Password for each day. Janet and her education team will arrive in the Zoom meeting room 30 minutes before the start of each day to greet students and get to know them before the online camp begins.
COST: $50 per household and includes one (1) Space Pack with all materials necessary for daily projects. Additional Space Packs can be purchased from the Rylander Theatre for $25 each. Astronaut Academy is a $225 value, but we are able to offer it at a steeply discounted rate thanks to the generosity of the Mattie Marshall Family Foundation.
Janet’s Planet SPACE pack is equipped with an activity guide and astronaut journal, materials to make star charts, origami, design a space station, a fizzy rocket, a Mars rover rocket car, a lunar lander, a binary bracelet, a Moon-bot, an autographed picture of an astronaut and an astronaut surprise.
Payment (Cash or Check only) will be accepted and packs may be picked up from the Rylander Theatre on Friday, July 17 from 11am--4pm. Please call the Box Office when you arrive and we will assist you from the Will Call Booth.
Participation is limited and registration closes July 17th at 4pm.

In accordance with Gov. Kemp's Executive Orders, the Rylander Theatre remains closed to the public.
The productions postponed due to the Covid-19 outbreak have all been rescheduled as follows:

The Malpass Brothers (Friends of the Rylander Presenter Series) October 23
